Dr. Sourav Roy

Sourav is a multi-hyphenate with an eclectic mix of creativity, humour, and sense of purpose.
His diverse experiences and expertise comes from having lived, studied and worked in Asia, Europe and the Americas - as a neuroscientist discovering potential therapeutics for Alzheimer's disease at King's College London to starting the world's biggest sustainability film festival together with OSCAR, BAFTA and EMMY award- winners; from educating thousands of disadvantaged children in Asia to combat plastic pollution, to providing strategic advice to multi-billion pound corporations in Europe and the USA; from being a broadcaster, keynote speaker and author to being the father of the world's youngest sustainability advocate, Moksha Roy BCyA!

He founded Centre for Big Synergy (CBS), a United Nations Civil Society Organisation, in 2018 following an accomplished career in academia and the industry. Through its own initiatives and those of its partners, CBS furthers the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) by facilitating the responsible creation and evolution of products, practices and policies. CBS also informs, inspires and involves all key 3 stakeholders in the journey to net zero; the governments, corporations, and the civil society. Since 2018, CBS has touched the lives of over 100M people in over 120 counties of the world and donated over £1.5 worth of time and expertise to UN SDGs initiatives.

Sourav has led several SDGs projects in collaboration with celebrities and leaders in business, sustainability, policy and media such as Deborah Meaden, Archbishop Justin Welby, Gabrielle Giner
(BT), President Obama’s US Ambassador (Rtd) Howard Gutman, Baroness Prashar (House of Lords), Gurinder Chadha OBE, Amma Asante, MBE, Jemima Khan and Anna Smith (BBC/SKY), to name a few.

Sourav’s unique insights around sustainability are a result of the very wide range of stakeholders they engage with; from unemployed women in remote villages in Asia to multi-billion pound corporations in Europe, from organising microplastic pollution awareness camps for disadvantaged slum children in India to showcasing change-making films on London’s iconic Piccadilly Lights!

As a speaker, presenter and broadcaster, his engagements have ranged from scientific and sustainability-related conferences, to educational and awareness camps for adults and children, to scientific panel discussions and presentations, to hosting podcasts for global sustainability leaders. He regularly comments on and is interviewed by the likes of BBC covering the initiatives of Centre for Big Synergy and its partners. His work and initiatives have also been covered by over 200 UK and international media outlets in the recent past.

Sourav’s thought leadership covers multiple areas and is not limited to the following:
