Ray Parmenter

Ray has worked in the resources and waste sector for well over 40 years and during this long career he has held a number of senior positions, in the private waste sector.

He has an extensive knowledge of the regulatory regimes governing the management of resources and waste, both domestically and internationally, including how legislation is developed from policies into law. Ray also has practical experience of the various operational aspects of resources and waste management, which gives him the ability to put the law into practical context.

Ray started his career in the resources and waste sector in the mid-eighties as an analytical chemist at Cleanaway and ended his career in the private sector in 2018 as Regulatory Affairs Director at Veolia. He joined CIWM as their Head of Policy and Technical in May 2021, after working for the Environment Agency as Senior Advisor, on the Defra led digital waste tracking project for two years.
